Hi Jim,
The truth is not much of a difference. I have used both and they are pretty similar. My own preference is WordPress as I find it more flexible and easier to use.
Making money from blogs though is quite a skill in itself. I am not sure how much you have read about it, but unless you are very lucky, it can take 6 months to a year to actually start making anything. The only good news is it doesn’t cost you anything, which is strange these days.
Good content is key otherwise why would anyone read you blog. Finding a niche market is tough but can be done and then the next best tip is to optimize your traffic.
Takes time and patience but can be done.
I have put my two blogs here, one WordPress and one Blogger, same stuff two different blogs so have a look as it might help.

Publicize might be a better word?, advertise means to me paying for visitors which may only e profitable for a well optimized store site.
Sounds like your doing the right thing, all of those measure you’ve taken so far should also help your search engine ranking, I believe search engines are still the biggest source of tree traffic in most cases.

Welcome to the Search Engine Optimization (SEO) world. For you site to appear on Google depends on many things such as link to you site, how use full you content is, how popular it is, etc and these categorization is achieved better by the Google bot if you have an optimized page, but always the best way of having you site indexed and in a good position is to have a great content.

Having content that matches the user searches is of course neeeeded, the search engines recognize topics so you don’t always need to have an exactly matching phrase. The Google keyword tool is usefl for learning relatd phrases people are actually entering, Local (your country) searches [Exact match] give the most realistic figures. You can compile a list of phrases to incorporate in future content, using it in the title can be powerful.

You might provide some general consumer electrical service advice articles on the site to improve the chances of coming up in a search. Even trivia articles about the average residential power usage in your community for different seasons may be worthwhile.
Searching the address I did see a Google Places Page for the business but didn’t easily find it with a search for Electrician, London, only 7 make it into the top 7 A-G labeeled positions on page 1 of the results, there are SEO measures that can help a local listing ranking, The page appears to not be claineed by the owner? or at least could use a fleshing out of the page content and probably category settings., having customers leave reviews on this page as well as getting citations of the business into more online directories can nudge up the local listing, apparently the company site ranking helps the local listing as well.
Of course getting links to the company site helps as well, junky links from completely unrelated sites cna catch up to you and actually cause a ranking penalty in the worst case, creating a target list of relatd topics, construction, home improvement, electrical appliances, etc. that you would bear in mind when looking for backlink candidates would be helpful, don’t always link to the home page, link to the most closely related page, your article comparing electric vs gas cloths dryers could e linked to from a review on some blog where you leave an insightful comment.
This site simplifies the process of searching for backlink candidates. IF you have a prolific writer available, it may be worth creating articles for article directories like Ezinearticles,com a truly useful article may be ‘reprinted’ on other sites.

It’s not something I’ve ever seen offered at university in the UK, especially not internet marketing though I imagine there are some SEO courses. Most people teach themselves, the basics are quite easy to pick up. Once you’ve mastered basic on page SEO and off page SEO / backlinking then it’s quite simple. Why not try and teach yourself?

Good, quick communication with customers and potential customers is important. Products (if selling is your business model) that you can profit from, making payment as easy as possible, etc.
(Targeted) Traffic and conversions are your two most important things for your online business.
You can have a $ 1 million website, with great products, but if no one visits it, it will do you no good. Look into seo, social media, creating your own content, to try to build up traffic.
Anyway, as far as eBay goes:
Seems like it would be tough to do, but you could try “eBay arbitrage”, where you buy something off of eBay and then resell it there for a profit. Some sellers do not include important keywords in the title, give a poor description, poor pictures (or none at all), etc. All this stuff can scare potential buyers away, decreasing the competition and probably the final price.
You could possibly buy the items and make a much better listing, and possibly profit.
Sellers may misspell the main keywords in the title as well, meaning most potential buyers will never find them. You could try a misspelling search using a site like Typojoe.com to hopefully find some of these items and possibly get some great deals.
You could also use a site like Ebuyersedge.com to set up saved eBay searches. You’d get an e-mail whenever a matching item is newly listed. Especially good for “Buy It Now”s that are priced right.
Or, if you find some listed an auction format, use a sniping service such as Hidbid.com to place your bid for you. It’ll bid in the last few seconds, helping you to save money and avoid shill bidding.
Of course you could also try your local thrift stores, Goodwill, auctions, yard sales, Craigslist, etc. to source your products.

You have no backlinks to your website that are known to the search engines (checked using backlinkwatch.com). The biggest part of SEO is building varied and quality backlinks to your site. On page optimisation is only a small part of the battle.
Go out there and build links to your site, until you do you won’t see any real results, I can promise you that.

Hi,
There is no quick and easy answer for that question. Online gambling is a very competitive industry so it will will be no suprise to you that companies spend hundreds of thousands a year on online marketing.
Obviously it depends on your online strategy as to how much money you are looking to spend. Are you looking at PPC? SEO? Banner advertising? E-marketing? Brand marketing? Or all of these?
Pay Per Click, although a very useful tool in it’s own right, can prove a very expensive method of marketing if it isn’t used in the correct manner. Make sure that you target the search tail to get maximum value from your money.
SEO is obviously a massive sector in online marketing and this is where the majority of the budgets tend to go. Google recently stated in it’s Sales and Marketing Priorities 2008 that content is what it wants to concentrate on. This isn’t to say that you should ignore other aspects of SEO, such as meta tags, intelligent URL structures, HTML setup and plenty of links (both internal and external), but content is what is going to push the boat out.
My advice…Concentrate on your target audience, analyse your traffic and where it comes from, make sure your SEO and PPC is targeted and relevant and monitor it to ensure this, and get plenty of unique keyword heavy relevant content on your site.
